Carl James featured in Toronto Star article on minority youth and school suspension rates.

Carl James (Faculty of Education) was recently featured in a Toronto Star article on school suspension rates for black and aboriginal students. The article draws on a TDSB 2006 survey that shows black and aboriginal students were suspended at much higher rates than students of other backgrounds. James suggests that school administrators may not be not paying enough attention to underlying causes of behavioural problems such as the social, cultural and economic situations that these students may face.
